Polystyrene Compactor – Achieves 40% EPS compression
Compact your polystyrene waste with the right equipment!
Polystyrene Compactor – model EPS1000
The EPS1000 polystyrene compactor offers a volume reduction of 40:1 and can process up to 15 kg per hour, making it ideal for handling small to moderate amounts of waste.
Polystyrene Compactor – model EPS2000
For larger volumes of polystyrene waste, the EPS2000 is the perfect solution. It can compact up to 70 kg per hour and produces blocks with a 40:1 compression ratio, yielding 300 kg per cubic meter.
Flamingo, expanded polystyrene, EPS… One and the same material
All of the above are names for one and the same type of plastic material. However, we know it best as polystyrene, and in commercial contexts especially as EPS6.
Polystyrene is used everywhere, especially in industry, for packaging food, groceries, electronic goods, furniture and much more, due to its shock-absorbing and insulating properties.
If your business generates significant amounts of polystyrene waste, it is very important that it is disposed of correctly so that it does not become an environmental sinner. This is because polystyrene is an ‘inert’ material that cannot decompose in nature.
Recycling of polystyrene and EPS
In the past, polystyrene was sent to landfill, which was not without consequences for our nature. Today, many municipalities have a solution where it is processed at the recycling centre to prepare it for recycling. However, in several municipalities, polystyrene is still incinerated and in the process, valuable materials go up in smoke and CO2 is emitted.
Pure white EPS is 100% recyclable. It can be used to make new plastic products, or to produce new raw materials for packaging, etc. For every kilo of polystyrene that is recycled, three litres of crude oil and corresponding CO2 emissions are actually saved.
How a polystyrene compactor works
Mil-tek’s polystyrene compactors are designed for automatic operation. The polystyrene waste is put into the machine, which tears the material apart and then melts it into a solid block (up to 70kg per hour) with a volume reduction of 40:1.
These blocks are much easier to store than aerated polystyrene, and not least easy to handle for subsequent transport.
And the compressed blocks can be sold! Waste collectors are happy to pay for compressed blocks of styrofoam, so if your business generates large volumes, selling them can be a very reasonable source of income.
Advantages of an EPS compactor
Installation of a polystyrene compactor is carried out by a trained technician from Mil-tek, who will also help you find the best location for the machine in order to optimise the daily workflow.
In addition, you will experience the following benefits:
- The number of bins and containers can be reduced and existing waste costs can be reduced by up to 80%.
- The compactor will keep your polystyrene waste safely contained and prevent contamination and a messy working environment.
- The processed blocks of polystyrene can be easily palletised and stored before being sold on.
- You can make money from your polystyrene waste.
- You contribute to more recycling.
